Baltimore County Public Schools opens applications for its Online Learning Program on Friday, November 6, 2026, and the window closes Friday, December 11. The program is for students entering grades 6 through 12 in the 2027 to 2028 school year who live in Baltimore County, and its office is right up the road in Catonsville.

What is the BCPS Online Learning Program?

The BCPS Online Learning Program, often called OLP, is the school system's online program for middle and high school students. Its office is at 615 Frederick Road in Catonsville, and its website lists an instructional day of 7:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Every family is different, and for some kids learning online is the right fit.

Who can apply?

According to BCPS, the program is only open to students who live in Baltimore County at the time the application is submitted and who will be entering grades 6 through 12 next school year. If your child is already enrolled in OLP, you do not need to apply again. BCPS says the program brochure and an informational video are on its Online and Extended Learning page, so take a look at both before you apply.

What else is coming up for BCPS families this month?

November is busy. Report cards come out November 12, American Education Week runs November 16 to 20, and Thanksgiving break is right behind it. My posts on American Education Week and BCPS school breaks for 2026 to 2027 have the dates.

What does this mean for families moving to Arbutus?

Because the Online Learning Program is countywide, students can apply from anywhere in Baltimore County, including Arbutus, Halethorpe and Lansdowne. The key is the residency rule: your child has to live in the county when you submit the application. If you are planning a move here and want to apply for next fall, talk with me early about timing. If you are also curious about your zoned school, my post on the new Lansdowne High School explains how to look up a school boundary.
