Stuff the Trucks Nov 18: Help BCPS Students Stay Warm

2 November 2026

The Education Foundation of Baltimore County Public Schools is holding its first-ever Stuff the Trucks event on Wednesday, November 18, from 2 to 7 p.m. at BC Brewery in Hunt Valley. Neighbors can drop off new winter gear, personal care items and school supplies for BCPS students, and the event is free and family friendly.

This is the kind of story I love sharing. In Arbutus, neighbors look out for each other, and this is an easy way to extend that to students across the county this winter.

What is Stuff the Trucks?

Stuff the Trucks is part of the Education Foundation's annual Share the Warmth and Joy campaign. BCPS announced the event on October 20, and it is the first time the foundation has held it.

Everything collected goes to the foundation's two Exchangerees, which are educator resource centers. BCPS teachers can "shop" there at no cost to themselves for donated goods to give to their students.

What items are needed?

CategoryItems needed
New winter gearBlankets, coats, gloves or mittens, scarves, hoodies, socks
Personal care itemsDeodorant, hand sanitizer, shampoo, body wash, toiletry kits, tissues
School suppliesBook bags, crayons, notebook paper, pens, pencils, markers, highlighters, folders, notebooks

Winter gear should be new. A pack of socks or a set of gloves is a perfect place to start.

Where and when is it?

Stuff the Trucks is Wednesday, November 18, from 2 to 7 p.m. at BC Brewery, 10950 Gilroy Road, Suite F, in Hunt Valley.

A portion of the proceeds from all food and drink sales at BC Brewery that day will go to the foundation. So if you stay for an early dinner, you are helping too.

Can my business, church or neighborhood hold a drive?

Yes. The foundation is encouraging businesses and organizations to hold their own collection drives and bring everything to the event on November 18.

A drive is a great project for a block, a scout troop, a church group or an office. Hunt Valley is a bit of a drive from Arbutus, so one person can carry a whole neighborhood's donations.

How else can I help if I can't make it?

You can learn more about the foundation, give or volunteer through the Education Foundation of Baltimore County Public Schools website.

If you would like to help closer to home, my post on how to help Catonsville Emergency Assistance lists ways to support neighbors with food and bills this season.

What does this mean for people moving to Arbutus?

When people ask me what Arbutus is really like, I tell them about moments like this. Neighbors here show up for each other, for local kids and for the schools.

If you want to stay involved in what is happening with our schools, see my post on how to weigh in on the BCPS budget. You can learn more about the community on my Moving to Arbutus page.
